EDO MBM Technology Ltd has been designing, developing and manufacturing weapon carriage & release equipment for over 50 years, and is now recognised for its expertise in the field of airborne weapons interfacing. It is an approved supplier to the UK Ministry of Defence and to major aerospace prime contractors world-wide. EDO MBM Technology is the design authority for the Tornado Heavy Duty Ejector Release Unit (HDERU), the Paveway III (UK) Adapter Group and Storm Shadow interface. For many years the company has also been involved with the design and manufacture of arming units as well as electrical and mechanical interface cables.

EDO MBM recognises the current trend towards small smart weapons, and knows that it can offer considerable relevant expertise to prime contractors involved in weapons and airframe development. Technologies such as smart (MIL-STD-1760) weapons and multiple store carriage integration onto existing platforms are fully embraced by EDO MBM. Significant private venture funds have been invested in such research and development. This background of core skills and expertise built up over many years means that EDO MBM is able to offer a cost effective, low risk solution for the design and manufacture of weapon interface solutions.

Quality Management System

EDO MBM's Quality Assurance System has been accredited by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance to BS EN ISO 9001: 1994 in accordance with Aerospace Sector Certification Scheme TS 157-1997 (certificate number: 921022) and by the Civil Aviation Authority giving the company CAA-A1 approval. The Quality management system operates in full accordance with the requirements of Defence Standard 05-91 and EECS licensing approvals. The company previously held AQAP 1 and Def Stan 05-21 approvals and is currently working to incorporate ISO 9001: 2000. The scope includes the design, development and manufacture of electro-mechanical device, actuators, weapons carriage release and arming assemblies. EDO MBM also holds a number of customer approvals including BAE Systems, TRW Aerospace, Westland Helicopters, FHL.

Facilities

EDO MBM is a major part of EDO UK Ltd and operates from a single site on the Home Farm Business Park, in Brighton, UK. The Home Farm facility offers a wide range of design and manufacturing facilities. As well as providing a sound corporate infrastructure encompassing an ISO9001 quality system, it gives access to the latest generation manufacturing planning tools (MRPII), and excellent cost control including real time Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC). The company has invested in the recruitment, training and development of an excellent multi-skilled workforce in all areas of the business. The manufacturing facilities have benefited significantly by large-scale investment in recent years, both in terms of providing an excellent working environment, and in production plant. The latter includes specialist machines for processing high strength aircraft materials. Facilities include:
